Correct selection of stone protective agent to ensure the quality of stone conservation


The correct selection of stone protective agent is one of the key factors to ensure the quality of stone conservation projects. Each stone protective agent is not a panacea, and its performance is mainly manifested in its universal applicability, that is, it is effective for most stones. But on the other hand, each product also has its particularity, that is, it is particularly good or unsatisfactory or even ineffective for some (some) performance. Based on this, when we choose the stone protective agent, we must make the right choice for different stone varieties, in different environments, different installation processes and different protection requirements.

The application of stone protective agent in decoration engineering has been paid more and more attention. Its use of stone decoration project into a new level of technology, it can effectively avoid or reduce the occurrence of various diseases of stone, prevent water spots, white, alkali, rust and other stone diseases. How to correctly select and use stone protective agent is the key to stone protection.

The choice of stone protective agent should advocate such a principle: scientific and reasonable choice of protective agent and the correct use of protective agent is indispensable. How to do this principle, we should first understand the classification of protective agents. Combined with the specific requirements of our project, the protective agent is divided into: 1. waterproof type; 2. antifouling type; 3. oil-proof type; 4. back type; 5. other type.

1. Select according to protection requirements:

If the purpose of protection is to prevent pantothenic, rust, etc., the general use of silicone stone protective agent can achieve the effect.

If the purpose of protection is comprehensive waterproof and anti-fouling ability, it is generally necessary to use organic fluorine type stone protective agent to achieve the effect.

2. Choose according to the environment of stone installation:

If it is used for outdoor stone protection, it is recommended to choose oily stone protective agent for treatment. Because the anti-aging ability of oily protective agent is stronger than that of water, so the service life is longer;

If it is indoor stone protection in addition to the choice of oily protective agent, you can also choose water-based stone protective agent for surface treatment. Because the indoor environment is less affected, the impact on the life of the product is relatively small, and the cheap water-based protective agent is naturally loved by many customers.

3. According to the installation process of stone:

Using wet paste and grouting stone, granite is generally recommended to use HB-G713 to do two times of front and side protection (through the national authority testing). If you are not at ease, you can use the HB-G633 to protect the bottom surface. The selection of bottom protective agent should pay attention to the alkali resistance of the protective agent, and can not affect the adhesion fastness of stone and cement. Marble wet paste can choose HB-G118, G168, G700, G710, G711 and G713 to do surface waterproof treatment first, sandstone surface please choose HB-G700 and G168 to do surface treatment, and then use HB-G633 and G733 to do waterproof and alkali-proof treatment on the bottom surface.

The use of dry hanging stone, the selection of stone protective agent standards mainly focus on waterproof, you can choose HB-G118, G168, G710, G711, G713 and other products.

4. If it is a dense structure of stone, such as Spanish beige, slate and other recommended selection of oily stone protective agent. Because the solvent component has strong penetration, it can go deeper into the stone for protection. However, it should be noted that for black stone with dense structure, the general protective agent will deepen the color of the stone and should be handled carefully; for stone with general structure, oily and water-based stone protective agents can be selected.

5. If it is a restaurant, stove, driveway or other easily polluted place, the surface is recommended to use organic fluorine stone protective agent to improve the stone surface stain resistance.

6. If it is a square, aisle, public places stone, it is recommended to use HB-G713 oily penetration king in the surface and side to do 2 to 3 times of protection treatment. Because G713 has strong penetration ability, and acid resistance, alkali resistance, anti-aging ability more than double the national standard of superior products, the quality is quite excellent. If it is a subway station, underground floor ground stone, in addition to the surface and side with HB-G713 to do a good job, should be in the bottom surface with HB-G733 stone bottom king for processing.

7. At present, many customers like to do film-forming maintenance treatment on the surface of rough stone. It is recommended to use film-forming stone protective agent made of silicone as raw material in this project. This product has good hardness, high bonding strength and UV resistance. Do not easily use the bottom sealant made of acrylic acid. This product is mainly designed for bottom sealing. Peel and discoloration often occur when used on the stone surface.

Matters needing attention in the selection of stone protective agent for 2.

1. Don't just look at the product manual. Any product must be tested on site before it can be selected.

2. When selecting the product, do not be easily blinded by the surface hydrophobic effect of the product. The surface effect is only temporary. If the surface residue is removed and then tested, it is the real effect of the product.

3. When selecting, pay attention to whether the stone protective agent will change the color of the stone after use, whether the surface residue is easy to remove, and whether it affects the brightness of the stone surface.

4. Construction technology is one of the important criteria for the selection of stone protective agent, the process is too complex will directly lead to the rise of costs.

5. The closed place should be careful to choose oily stone protective agent, do not choose the use of benzene-containing solvent protective agent. Moreover, if the air circulation is not smooth during construction, it is easy to cause poisoning of construction personnel.

6. Smooth stone is recommended not to use film-forming stone protective agent, because the surface is too smooth will affect the adhesion fastness of the protective agent film layer.

7. Pay attention to the difference between various versions of the test report. At present, only JC/T973-2005 "natural stone protective agent for building decoration" standard is the only quality standard for protective agent in China. Other reference standards are non-standard testing, and the quality standard is lower than the standard of natural stone protective agent for building decoration.

8. Do not blindly pursue low cost and lose big because of small, quality first, price second is the first principle of choosing stone protective agent.

The protective effect of any stone protective agent is relative, so the selection of products should be based on the actual requirements and effects to choose, correct construction, strengthen the later maintenance, in order to achieve the best effect.
